Dr. Christian Quenett has been in office as President of BV Glas since November 2023. In his welcome address, he provides an insight into the current challenges facing the glass industry.
Flat glass manufacturers had to contend with further revenue shrinkage in 2025. Although domestic business developed positively, the overall result was depressed by the significant decline in foreign revenue.
The flat glass finishing segment closed out 2025 with a decline in total revenue. Both domestic and foreign revenue were below the previous year’s level and the decline was especially pronounced in the domestic market.
The container glass industry experienced a decline in revenue in 2025. Although both domestic and foreign revenue fell, the decline in foreign revenue was comparatively steeper.
Glass fibre manufacturers saw a decline in total revenue in 2025. Despite the slight upturn in domestic revenue, international sales dipped below the previous year’s level.
The utility and special glass industry closed out 2025 with a revenue downturn. Both domestic and foreign revenue fell short of the previous year’s level, with a more pronounced decline in the domestic market.
