The utility and special glass industry (including special hollow glass finishing) closed 2023 with revenue down 0.7 percent to EUR 1.71 billion (2022: EUR 1.73 billion). Domestic revenue fell by 2.3 percent to EUR 753 million (2022: EUR 771 million). There was 0.7 percent growth in foreign revenue, which climbed to EUR 961 million (2022: EUR 954 million).
In 2023 the export quota was 68.8 percent (2022: 69.3 percent). The export value of the utility and speciality glass industry declined by 4.9 percent to EUR 1.66 billion (2022: EUR 1.74 billion).
The import quota rose to 62.2 percent (2022: 61.8 percent). The value of imports was EUR 1.24 million, which is 0.4 percent lower than in the previous year (2022: EUR 1.25 billion). The value of imports was lower than the value of exports, resulting in an export surplus in the trade balance of EUR 417 million (2022: EUR 497 million). The surplus was therefore significantly lower than in the previous year (minus 16.2 percent).
