The flat glass manufacturing sector’s positive development in 2022 continued in 2023, when it generated total revenue of EUR 1.30 billion (up 3.4 percent / 2022: EUR 1.26 billion). This is due to an increase in foreign revenue of 7.6 percent to EUR 727 million (2022: EUR 676 million). Domestic revenue fell by 1.5 percent to EUR 572 million (2022: EUR 580 million). Despite the positive revenue development, the production value in this sector declined by 14.2 percent.
In 2023 the export quota was 59.9 percent (2022: 60.9 percent). The value of exported goods was EUR 854 million, which is a 5.7 percent decline and significantly lower than in 2022 (EUR 906 million).
In 2023 the import quota was 22.1 percent (2022: 23.5 percent). The value of imported goods was EUR 163 million (2022: EUR 178 million), which represents an 8.9 percent decline. The export surplus was EUR 692 million (2022: EUR 728), which is 4.9 percent lower than in the previous year.
