1985 Doctorate degree (Dr.-Ing) thesis on the subject of developing complex product and production structures for the tooling machine and plant construction industries.

1983 RWTH Aachen Tooling Machine Laboratory, Managing Engineer, Head of the Assembly and Manufacturing Research Groups
1986 First industrial job at BMW (position upon leaving the company: Head of Logistics, Technical Planning and Experimental Vehicle Construction)
1994 Entry to SCHOTT at corporate management level
1995 Appointment to the SCHOTT Managing Board
2004 Chairman of the SCHOTT Managing Board
2006 Appointment as honorary professor at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences
